What is a school counselor?

A school counselor supports students' social-emotional, academic, and career development. To ensure all students get the guidance they need, counselors work closely with parents, teachers, and school staff. Counselors work hard to provide all students with equitable access to school counseling resources. 

School Counseling Services

School Counselors Provide the following: 

• Short-term individual and small group counseling 

•Counselor lessons ( socio-emotional, academic, and career readiness)

•Crisis intervention counseling

•Conflict resolution and peer facilitation

•Referrals to outside services (e.g.,therapy)

•Consultation/collaboration with students and staff

•Connect families with helpful resources and community support
